The Authority of the Ekklesia

“As we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ.”
ROMANS 12:4,5

There is tremendous authority in the Ekklesia, but it bears repeating: the greater the authority, the greater the responsibility. There is no such thing as authority in the Kingdom of God without responsibility. If God gives you authority to represent Him, there is a reason. Authority is not given to us so we can order people around and make them serve us. Authority is given so we may carry out our own responsibility. There is a task, a function, a mission, an assignment, given to every member of the Ekklesia. Since all the members share in the same authority, all the members share in the same responsibility – though not all share in the same function.

Jesus was a master story teller. The method of teaching adopted by Jesus was that of painting a parabolic picture for the people allowing it to tell its' own story. He was never without a parable when He spoke and like a skilled potter would mold and shape His messages to fit the experience and maturity of His listeners. These parables bore the stamp of originality and were given to influence the thoughts, words, actions, and purposes of all who listened. Later,

Giving Gifts for Christmas

Dear Friend,

Giving gifts seems an essential part of our Christmas celebrations today. However, because of the commercialism and materialism that often accompany this tradition, some Christians are wondering if this practice has any scriptural basis. Are believers free to enjoy Christmas trees and all the brightly colored packages waiting to be opened early Christmas morning? Although it’s true many of our traditions have been corrupted, I don’t believe this alone is a good reason to eliminate the opportunity Christmas offers for generosity. There’s no other time of year that allows us to so openly demonstrate our appreciation and love for others in both tangible and intangible ways.

Power Through Weakness

GALATIANS 1:15-17

Paul did not seek credentials, ordination, or affiliation with a human organization. He did not wait for anyone to confirm the call on his life. He did not seek for hands to be laid on him. Preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ was renegade enough, but to preach the gospel to the Gentiles was a departure from the norm for the Christians at that time. It would later prove to be quite controversial and divisive. Prudence would dictate that it would be better to check with the other apostles and get their opinion and feedback before striking out in a new direction. Yet, Paul says once he obtained revelation he had no need to confer with flesh and blood.

Why? Because he was a maverick, an independent spirit, a rebel? No, it is only because the Revelation of Jesus is sufficient guidance. Flesh and blood cannot add to or take away from the Revelation.

God's Messengers Today

Text: Isaiah 62-64; 1Timothy 1

God Speaks in Many Ways

In the verse for today, God declares that He speaks, and when He does, He speaks in righteousness. We can always depend on what He says to be right. God speaks to us in many ways that include but are not limited to: His Word, nature, people, circumstances, peace, wisdom, supernatural intervention, dreams, visions, and what some call "the inner witness," which is best described as a "knowing" deep inside our hearts. He also speaks in what the Bible calls a "still, small voice," which I believe also refers to the inner witness.

Proclaim Liberty to the Captives

“When He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: ‘The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me…to proclaim liberty to the captives.” Luke 4:17-18 NKJV.

There are many things that can hold us captive. We can be obsessed with the lusts of the flesh or the craving for pleasure or power. Maybe we can’t escape the hold of bad habits. We can be trapped in abusive relationships or wracked by emotional trauma or stress. We can feel the weight of financial needs or the pressures of a job. We can be in situations for which we feel inadequate. We can be overwhelmed with worry or fear.

Luke 18:1 says no matter what, you have to keep praying. I can recall a time when I was deeply worried about a person lying about me to others. I prayed and finally decided I had enough, so I simply stopped praying about it.

அமெரிக்காவில் உள்நாட்டுப் போர் (Civil war) நடந்து கொண்டிருந்த காலம். 1863-ம் ஆண்டு ஒரு நாள் காலை வேளை. விர்ஜினியாவிலுள்ள நார்போர்க் துறை முகத்திற்குள் பயணிகள் கப்பல் ஒன்று வந்து சேர்ந்தது. உள்நாட்டுப் போரில் ஈடுபட்ட அமெரிக்காவின் வடபகுதி இராணுவத்தினருக் கும் தென் பகுதி இராணுவத்தினருக்கும் காயமுற்ற அல்லது நோயுற்ற கைதிகளாக அவரவர்களிடமிருக்கும் இராணுவ வீரர்களை பரிமாற்றம் செய்துகொள்வது என்ற ஒப்பந்தத்தின் அடிப்படையில் தெற்கு இராணுவத்தினர் அனுப்பிவைத்த நோயுற்ற இராணுவ வீரர்கள் தான் அந்தக் கப்பலில் வந்திருந்தனர்.

Why are you doing what you're doing?

Did you know that a person who does the right things, may not always do them for the right reasons? Let's take three people, who all do the right things, but are doing them for three distinct reasons:

Person A) does what is right because he fears that at the slightest mistake, God will be angry with him. He does what is right, but out of fear that God is a strict taskmaster, tapping His foot, waiting for a slip up.

Ministry at Winners Youth Camp August 2013

The 30th annual Winners youth camp "PNEUMA" was held in Pathana, TALAWAKELA on the 20th - 22nd August 2013.  325 youths from various parts of Sri Lanka attended and were blessed. The Lord had given Rev.Jacob Ratnam, Senior Pastor at Lighthouse Church, Gampola, Sri Lanka a vision to reach the youth and to make them Leaders. I attended this youth camp 28 years ago, and that camp was one of the instrument God used to confirm my calling for full time ministry. I had the wonderful privilege of sharing & ministering at this camp. Please pray that these children would be greatly used by the Lord in the coming days.

I was Preaching about the importance of being filled in the Holy Spirit to be effective witnesses to Jesus Christ.

உயர்ந்த அனுபவம்

'அவர்கள் ஜனங்களிடத்தில் வந்த போது, ஒரு மனுஷன் அவரிடத்தில் வந்து, அவர் முன்பாக முழங்கால்படியிட்டு: ஆண்டவரே, என் மகனுக்கு இரங்கும், அவன் சந்திரரோகியாய்க் கொடிய வேதனைப்படுகிறான்; அடிக்கடி தீயிலும், அடிக்கடி ஜலத்திலும் விழுகிறான்'. - (மத்தேயு 17:14-15).

 

இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவும் அவருடன் பேதுரு, யாக்கோபு, யோவான் ஆகிய மூன்று சீஷர்களும் மறுரூப மலையிலிருந்து அப்போதுதான் இறங்கி வந்திருந்தார்கள். அந்த அனுபவம் இன்னும் அவர்கள் இருதயத்திலிருந்து அகலாதிருந்தது. மோசேயும், எலியாவும் அங்கு இயேசுவுடன் பேசி கொண்டிருந்ததை நேரில் அந்த சீஷர்கள் கண்டிருந்தனர். இயேசுவின் முகம் சூரியனை போல பிரகாசித்திருப்பதை நேரில் கண்டிருந்தனர். 'ஆஹா! என்ன ஒரு உன்னத அனுபவம் அது! அதிலேயே அப்படியே இருந்து விட்டால் எத்தனை நலமாயிருக்கும்' என்று யோசித்தபடியே, அவர்கள் அந்த நினைப்புடனே கீழே இறங்கி வந்து கொண்டிருந்தனர்.

Jesus Called the Disciples

"He went up on the mountain and summoned those whom He Himself wanted, and they came to Him." - Mark 3:13 NASB.

There on the mountain, Jesus called the disciples to Himself. It was a place
where He had been separated from all other opinions and perceptions, where He could be alone with the Father. There, He had determined those He wanted to have as His disciples. This was a crucial decision, and every disciple was chosen by name.

God's Will

Dear Friends, 

It is more tragic when a person knows God's will but doesn't fulfill it than if they never knew His will to begin with (2 Pet. 2:21). I believe this happens more often than most people realize. 

When we get to heaven and look back on our lives, I don't think many of us will say, "I trusted God too much." But many of us will say, "I played it too safe. I spent my time being occupied with too many things and not going for what God said."

The Accusing Spirit - குற்றப்படுத்தும் ஆவி

The voice of condemnation

And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: forthe accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Revelation 12:10

This is another one of those common tactics of the enemy that we see literally all the time in the ministry of deliverance. The accusing spirit is an anti-Christ spirit, because it approaches people with no love, but a tone of condemnation. It works through a voice; the voice of condemnation. It constantly tells you how much of a failure you are. It tells you how your heart is not right with God. It tells you that if you don't read your Bible every day, that you aren't serious about your relationship with God. It basically tells you that you're never good enough. This is the exact opposite nature of God. It tears down rather than builds up. The accusing spirit uses the letter of the law to lay heavy burdens and crush it's victims, just as the Pharisees would do:

சாபத்தை கொண்டு வருபவை பாகம் ஒன்று

அவைகளைப்போல நீ சாபத்துக்குள்ளாகாதபடி அருவருப்பானதை உன் வீட்டிலே கொண்டுபோகாயாக; அதைச் சீ என்று வெறுத்து முற்றிலும் அருவருக்கக்கடவாய்; அது சாபத்திற்குள்ளானது. - (உபாகமம் 7:26). 

நம் வீடுகளில் சில நேரங்களில் நம்மை அறியாமல் நாம் கொண்டு செல்லும் சில பொருட்கள் தேவனுடைய சாபத்திற்கு உள்ளானதும், சாத்தான் அதிலே பிரியப்படுகிறதுமாயிருக்கிறவைகளாயிருக்கக்கூடும். ஆனால் அவற்றை நாம் அறியாமல் நம் வீட்டிற்கு கொண்டு செல்லும்போது, சாத்தானையும், சாபத்தையும் நம்மை அறியாமல் நம் வீட்டிற்கு எடுத்துச் செல்லுகிறோம்.

ஒரு வீட்டில் சமாதானமே இல்லாமல், எப்போதும் சண்டையும் சச்சரவுமே நிறைந்திருந்தால் அந்த வீட்டில் சத்துருவின் ஆதிக்கம் நிறைந்திருக்கிறது என்று பொருள். எனக்கு தெரிந்த ஒரு வீட்டில் ஒரு நாள் கணவன் மனைவி சந்தோஷமாக இருந்தால், அடுத்த 20
